Job description

Job Title: Media Technician/Instructor (Part-Time, Permanent)

The Commercial and Creative Industries at Carshalton College are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Technician/Instructor in Media.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain equipment and fittings of the Media Studios.
  2. Assist and support academic staff during classes.
  3. Instruct, supervise, or assess individual students or groups.

The role involves approximately one third of hours as an Instructor and two thirds as a Technician.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience with Media equipment, including multi-camera TV Studio, lighting, sound, and broadcast cameras.
  • Proficiency in Premiere CC, After Effects, Photoshop, Animate CC, Illustrator, Maya, and troubleshooting Mac hardware/software.
  • Formal technical and/or educational qualification.
  • Valid First Aid at Work Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
  • Knowledge of sound recording equipment, lighting, vision mixing, and rigging.
  • Good IT skills, ability to manage time and work under pressure.

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience with green screen, bugs, DVE, keys, and grip equipment.
  • Experience and knowledge of sound recorders, microphones, and boom poles.
