Job summary

Hugh Baird College seeks a Construction Technician to join the Professional Construction & Trades department on a permanent, full-time basis. You will support staff and students in hands-on activities, supervise equipment use, and maintain tools and resources in a safe, well-run workshop.

Contribute to a learning-focused environment while ensuring equipment is available and in good working order for practical sessions and demonstrations.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a relevant Level 2 vocational qualification.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety in workshop settings.
  • Experience with construction equipment in an educational or training environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the smooth operation of construction workshops.
  • Support lecturers and students with equipment, demonstrations, and practical tasks.
  • Maintain and manage tools, materials, and resources.
  • Promote health and safety and ensure a clean, safe working environment.
  • Participate in open evenings, taster days, and other promotional events.

Role

Hugh Baird College have an exciting opportunity for a Construction Technician to join our professional construction and trades department. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of construction professionals by supporting both staff and students in a hands-on learning environment.

You will provide technical support to staff and students, supervise and demonstrate processes and equipment use, and issue and maintain equipment and resources within our departments.
