Description

The Construction Curriculum Area is part of the Construction, Foundation and ILS faculty. It is based at the Ammanford Campus and includes building crafts, building services, schools, construction technical and higher education. Some provision is delivered off site at Bryngwyn School. The team has over forty full-time and part-time members, including teaching, assessing, and support staff. The area has strong industry links, winning many national awards for collaborations.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a minimum Level 2/3 qualification in Construction trades or relevant field, industry experience, and a passion for learning. The role supports the Construction and Building Services Plumbing team and contributes to all technical support within the Curriculum Area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for teaching and learning, responding to students and staff needs.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, complying with health and safety regulations.
  • Prepare and update safety documentation such as risk assessments and equipment records.
  • Maintain, upgrade, and service equipment, including machinery and tools.
  • Ensure the security and maintenance of course equipment and materials.
  • Manage stores inventory and handle stock ordering and issues.
  • Participate in team and curriculum meetings, support marketing, and assist in workshop activities.
  • Perform other duties as directed by management.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

Essential:

  • Level 2/3 qualification in Construction trades
  • Health & Safety training or willingness to undertake
  • Relevant industry experience
  • Good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and flexibly

Desirable:

  • GCSE English and Math at Grade C or equivalent
  • IOSH Managing Safely and First Aid qualifications or willingness to train
  • Understanding of technical support in Further Education
  • Competence in machinery maintenance
  • Valid driving license and ability to drive college minibus
Language Requirements
  • Welsh Oracy: Level 0/1
  • Welsh Literacy: Level 0/1
