Job summary

Aob Recruitment is seeking an Electrical Installations Technician to support learning programmes across Cambridge and Huntingdon. The role is full-time with a salary of £25,192-£27,152 per annum and a range of staff benefits.

The post holder will maintain equipment, assist in practical sessions, and contribute to department development at the Cambridge Campus with occasional travel to the Huntingdon Campus.

Qualifications

• At least one year of relevant trade experience in an electrical environment.
• Up-to-date knowledge of Health & Safety requirements relating to Electrical Installations.
• Good interpersonal, administrative and communication skills.
• Well organised with ability to meet deadlines and build positive relationships with staff and students.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair equipment in workshops and training areas.
• Set up equipment, tools, materials and assessment spaces for practical sessions.
• Provide practical support to teaching staff during sessions and assessments.

Electrical Installations Technician

An exciting opportunity is available for a Technician to join an Electrical Installations team across Cambridge and Huntingdon. This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary of £25,192-£27,152 per annum, plus a range of staff benefits.

About the Role

The role provides high-quality technical support to learning programmes within an Electrical Installations department, ensuring workshops, equipment and practical teaching areas are effectively prepared and maintained.

The post holder will work closely with teaching staff to support practical sessions and demonstrations and will also contribute to course development, team meetings and the continued growth of the department.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone interested in developing a career within education and could provide a pathway into teaching and assessing in the future.

The successful applicant will report to the Assistant Head of Department for Electrical Installations for day-to-day responsibilities and other departmental duties.

Location: Predominantly based at the Cambridge Campus, although occasional travel to the Huntingdon Campus may be required.

Main Responsibilities

1. Maintain and carry out basic repairs to equipment within workshops and training areas.

2. Prepare and set up equipment, tools, materials and assessment areas for practical sessions and demonstrations.

3. Provide practical support to teaching staff during workshop sessions, demonstrations and assessments.

4. Help maintain a safe, organised and effective working environment, ensuring good Health & Safety practices are followed at all times.

5. Support the development and preparation of practical activities for learning programmes.

6. Contribute to team meetings and the ongoing development of the Electrical Installations provision.

We are looking for someone with at least one year's relevant trade experience, including practical experience within an electrical environment, particularly in maintenance and repair.

You will have up-to-date knowledge of Health & Safety requirements relating to Electrical Installations, alongside good interpersonal, administrative and communication skills.

You should be well organised, able to meet deadlines and confident in building positive working relationships with both colleagues and students.

Applicants should also hold a minimum Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installations.
