We're looking for a proactive and dedicated Technician (Catering) to join our supportive Catering team at North Kent Colleges Group, helping to create a safe, efficient and industry-focused learning environment.

In this hands-on role, you'll provide technical and operational support across our Catering provision, helping lecturers prepare for practical sessions and ensuring our training kitchens and The View Restaurant are well stocked, organised and compliant with food safety and health and safety requirements.

You'll manage food, equipment and resources, support stock control and deliveries, assist with practical classes, and help maintain high standards of cleanliness, HACCP and food safety. You'll also liaise with contractors, support equipment maintenance and contribute to health and safety inspections and asset management.

The successful candidate will have a minimum Level 2 Hospitality qualification and Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering, with experience in a similar customer-focused environment. You'll have good knowledge of stock control and ordering systems, strong organisational and supervisory skills, and excellent communication and IT skills. Experience within an education environment would be advantageous.

The Role:

  • Your hours: 12 hours per week, 40 weeks per annum, with opportunities to increase your hours in future.
  • Your pay: £6,326.64 pro rata per annum + £1,180.58 holiday pay.
The Group:

With four campuses across Kent (Dartford, Gravesend, Hadlow and Tonbridge) and over 6,000 students, we strive to equip the young people who study here with an inclusive and innovative education experience to enhance their future career prospects, which, as noted by Ofsted, is supported through our high-quality, industry standard facilities. Each and every staff member plays a key part in delivering the success of our learners' experience, and we want those who join our curriculum and support teams to share our passion in achieving this.

The Benefits:
  • Enrolment onto the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) which includes generous employee/employer contribution rates.
  • Access to free parking and a number of onsite facilities, including gyms, restaurants and coffee shops.
  • CPD days and access to several discount memberships through being an employee at a College.
  • Ongoing opportunities for professional development.
