Job summary

Helston Community College, part of Truro and Penwith Academy Trust, is seeking a dedicated Food Technician to join our Design & Technology/Food Department. This is a part-time role, 2 days per week (Thu 08:15-16:15 and Fri 08:15-15:45), starting as soon as possible.

You will prepare ingredients and equipment for practical lessons, maintain a safe environment and support teachers during sessions. We welcome applicants who are enthusiastic, reliable and well organised, with good communication

Qualifications

  • Enthusiastic, reliable and highly organised.
  • Able to work efficiently in a busy environment.
  • Good communication skills; enjoys working with young people.
  • Experience in kitchen, catering or food preparation (desirable).
  • Understands food hygiene practices (training can be provided).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients, equipment and resources for practical food lessons.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and well-organised environment, following all hygiene and health & safety requirements.
  • Support teachers during practical sessions, helping students to work safely and confidently.
  • Assist with displays, demonstrations, and wider department activities.
  • Contribute to the positive ethos of the College by supporting student learning and engagement.

Helston Community College, part of Truro and Penwith Academy Trust, are seeking a dedicated Food Technician to join our thriving Design & Technology/Food Department. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting students’ learning and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of our food rooms. The role is part-time for 2 days per week [Thursday 0815-1615 and Friday 0815-1545], and we are looking for someone to start as soon as possible.

About the Role:

As our Food Technician, you will:

  • Prepare ingredients, equipment and resources for practical food lessons
  • Maintain a safe, clean and well-organised environment, following all hygiene and health & safety requirements
  • Support teachers during practical sessions, helping students to work safely and confidently
  • Assist with displays, demonstrations, and wider department activities
  • Contribute to the positive ethos of the College by supporting student learning and engagement
About you:
We are looking for someone who:
  • Is enthusiastic, reliable and highly organised
  • Can work efficiently in a busy environment
  • Has good communication skills and enjoys working with young people
