Job summary

The Mick George Group is seeking a Technical Waste Assessor to support the waste department and help ensure compliance with environmental permits. You will assess waste enquiries, apply WM3 and ADR rules, and coordinate with the Waste Compliance Manager to resolve issues and deliver accurate information.

This role offers office and site-based work across the head office and sites, with standard hours and a range of benefits including pension, PPE, and cycle-to-work schemes.

Qualifications

• Working understanding of WM3 and applying it to waste assessments.
• In-depth understanding of technical/chemical waste analysis and SDSs.
• Experience producing compliant duty of care waste transfer paperwork.
• Excellent MS Office skills.
• Ability to be methodical and flexible in approach to tasks.
• Pro-active team member.

Responsibilities

• Technically assess all waste enquiries using the current WM3 guidance.
• Understand and apply ADR regulations to classify waste for transportation.
• Ensure the Waste Compliance Manager is updated of any issues and provided with regular updates.
• Prepare responses to Environment Agency information requests, CAR and WAR reports.
• Ensure compliance of all waste assessments with current legislation, permits, licences, and exemptions.
• Liaise with internal and external laboratories where sample analysis is required.
• Ensure NCRs are identified and passed to the originator in a timely manner.
• Liaise with customers, operations, compliance, customer services and sales to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Assist in Duty of Care audits for existing and new customers.
• Maintain records and generate compliant Waste Transfer Notes and consignment notes.

Job Overview:

To provide technical support to the technical waste department and the wider organisation to ensure that the business remains compliant with relevant legislation and our environmental permits.

Responsibilities

• Technically assess all waste enquiries generated by the sales team or direct enquiries using the current EA technical guidance document WM3
• Understand and apply ADR regulations to classify waste for transportation
• Ensure the Waste Compliance Manager is properly updated of any issues arising and provided with regular general updates
• Prepare responses to Environment Agency information requests, CAR and WAR reports
• Ensure compliance of all waste assessments with current legislation, relevant permits, licences, and exemptions
• Liaise with internal and external laboratories where sample analysis is required
• To ensure that all Non-Conformance Reports (NCR’s) are identified are dealt with passed to the originator of the enquiry in a timely manner
• Liaise with customers, operations, compliance, customer services and sales to ensure customer satisfaction
• Work with operations for off-site disposal
• Ensure all clients requests are acted upon promptly and efficiently
• Answer all telephone calls promptly
• To be diligent and respect the confidentiality of the information to which they are party
• General administration as and when required
• Assist in Duty of Care audits for existing and new customers
• To maintain effective record keeping and documentation to accepted/approved methods and procedures
• Generation of compliant Waste Transfer Notes and consignment notes

Skills/ Qualifications

• Working understanding and previous experience of how to apply WM3
• In depth understanding of technical / chemical waste analysis and SDS’
• Working knowledge and experience of producing compliant duty of care waste transfer paperwork
• Excellent MS Office skills
• Ability to be methodical and flexible in approach to tasks
