Job summary

BRE is seeking a Technical Training Designer to transform expert knowledge into engaging learning experiences for online, virtual and classroom settings. You’ll work with BRE subject-matter experts to shape content, scripts and multimedia assets that empower learners and organisations.

You’ll develop material that is accessible, learner-centred and aligned with the Academy's product roadmap, while maintaining content accuracy and quality across formats and platforms.

Qualifications

  • Experience designing and developing learning content and training materials.
  • Ability to translate technical material into engaging learner-focused content.
  • Experience working with SMEs and stakeholders to develop high-quality training.

About the role

As a Technical Training Designer, you'll create engaging and effective learning solutions that bring BRE's world-leading research, science and industry expertise to life.

Working closely with experts from across BRE, you'll transform technical and specialist knowledge into clear, learner-focused training materials that can be delivered online, virtually and in classroom settings. You'll support the development of new courses and the continuous improvement of existing programmes, ensuring learners receive relevant, accessible and high-quality training experiences.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys instructional design, thrives on collaboration and is motivated by creating learning that helps individuals and organisations perform better.

Key responsibilities
  • Design and develop engaging training materials for online, virtual and face-to-face delivery.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who can combine strong learning design skills with the ability to understand and communicate technical information in an engaging way.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience designing and developing learning and training content, including digital learning solutions.
  • Proven ability to transform complex or technical subject matter into engaging, learner-focused content.
  • Experience working with subject matter experts and stakeholders to develop high-quality training materials.
  • Knowledge of instructional design principles and adult learning methodologies.
  • Experience using e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate Rise, Articulate Storyline or similar platforms.
  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS), such as Moodle.
  • Skills in creating multimedia learning content, including video, audio and screen-capture resources.
  • Experience using graphic design tools to develop visual learning assets and supporting materials.
  • Understanding of accessibility and inclusive learning design principles.
  • Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • A creative, collaborative and learner-centred approach, with a passion for continuous improvement and innovation.

Work Location Options

Mostly Remote – This role is primarily home-based, with occasional travel to our head office in Watford for planned meetings (4-6 times per year).
