Job summary

Kemp Recruitment Limited is seeking a Technical Trainer in Halifax to design, deliver, and manage impactful training programmes for engineers in the HGV sector and support staff within a fast-paced, technically driven environment.

You will lead onboarding, refresher sessions, and qualifications, develop training materials, and collaborate with engineers and SMEs to ensure training aligns with current standards and best practices.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in technical training within automotive/vehicular sectors.
• Qualifications in training or teaching (e.g., PTLLS, Cert Ed, or equivalent).
• Experience creating and developing training content, including process mapping and instructional writing.
• Able to engage with both technical and non-technical staff to drive learning and development.
• Knowledge of engineering principles and training standards, including IRTEC.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging technical training across the engineer learning journey, onboarding, refresher sessions, and qualifications (e.g., IRTEC).
• Create, update, and maintain training materials and schedules aligned with current standards and best practices.
• Support and assess engineers through accreditation processes.
• Provide technical training to non-technical staff to improve cross-functional collaboration.
• Collaborate with technical teams and SMEs to develop clear training content.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and cross-departmental projects.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging technical training across all stages of the engineer learning journey, including onboarding, refresher sessions, and qualifications (e.g., IRTEC).
• Create, update, and maintain training materials and schedules aligned with current standards and best practices.
• Support and assess engineers through internal and external accreditation processes.
• Provide technical training to non-technical staff (e.g., Controllers) to improve cross-functional collaboration.
• Collaborate with technical teams and subject matter experts to develop clear and effective training content.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and cross-departmental projects.

Experience required for the Technical Trainer role

• Proven experience in technical training, particularly within the automotive sector.
• Qualifications in training or teaching (e.g., PTLLS, Cert Ed, or equivalent).
• Experience in creating and developing training content, including process mapping and instructional writing.
• Ability to engage with both technical and non-technical employees, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
• Knowledge of engineering principles and training standards, including IRTEC.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts in an accessible manner.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
• Any experience gained within the HGV sector would be beneficial.
