Job summary

Volvo Penta in Warwick is seeking a skilled professional to own and drive end-to-end competence development for the Industrial UK & Ireland unit. You will partner with Service Engineers and Application Engineers to shape and deliver targeted learning initiatives that close capability gaps and support new product launches.

The role requires engineering or electrical qualifications with EV experience, strong IT and training design skills, and the ability to communicate complex technical topics

Qualifications

  • Engineering or electrical qualification required or equivalent industrial experience.
  • IMI Level 3/4 EV qualification preferred or equivalent.
  • Experience in industrial environments and with engines/control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end competence development for the Industrial UK & Ireland unit.
  • Lead and deliver development initiatives with Service and Application Engineers.
  • Identify capability gaps and design effective learning solutions.
  • Monitor capability levels and create training plans aligned with launches.
  • Deliver engaging technical training across service, applications and systems.
  • Manage training activities: scheduling, records, reporting and digital tools.
  • Support train-the-trainer activities and maintain facilities to health & safety standards.

Salary: £47,000 with company bonus of up to 5% and Company car

Location: Warwick, hybrid working with 60% office attendance and occasional UK travel

Who are you?
  • Engineering or Electrical diploma/degree qualifications, or equivalent Industrial experience
  • IMI Level 3 or 4 HD Electric Vehicle qualification, or equivalent (preferred)
  • Experience working within an industrial environment
  • Strong knowledge of modern engines and control systems and fault-finding techniques
  • Experience with electrical systems, CAN systems, fuel systems, EATS, diagnostics, EV/BESS, and ICE technologies
  • Experience developing training solutions, identifying competence gaps, and creating effective development plans and materials
  • You are confident communicating technical information to a broad range of audiences, adapting your approach to deliver clear, engaging and effective learning experiences.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and digital learning systems
What will you do?

You will own end-to-end responsibility for competence development within our Industrial business unit in the UK & Ireland.

Working collaboratively with the Service Engineer and Application Engineer, you will have the autonomy to shape, lead, and deliver development initiatives, identify capability gaps, and design effective learning solutions that drive lasting impact

  • Monitor capability levels, identify development needs, and create training plans aligned with business priorities and new product launches
  • Deliver engaging technical training across service, applications, commercial, and systems topics
  • Manage training activities, including scheduling, records, reporting, and digital competence tools
  • Support technical teams through train-the-trainer activities, collaboration, and central training events
  • Maintain high-quality training facilities, equipment, and materials in line with health, safety, quality, and environmental standards
