Technical Supervisor (Research)

School of Architecture, Technology and Engineering

Do you want to put your knowledge and skills into developing and supporting exciting research activities in a broad range of engineering disciplines? Want to work in an inclusive, welcoming and supportive environment?

We have an exciting opportunity to join the engineering division in the School of Architecture, Technology and Engineering. This role involves providing technical support and supervision for various research activities within the department. As a Technical Supervisor, your skills will be utilized to manufacture, assemble, install, and machine bespoke components according to specifications, as well as coordinating a small team of technicians. Training in all aspects of the role will be provided, but enthusiasm for delivering high-quality service to staff and research projects is essential.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in automotive, mechanical assembly, and/or electrical/electronic engineering.
  • Machine and mechanical assembly skills, including use of lathes and milling machines.
  • Some fabrication knowledge.
  • A good understanding of Health and Safety regulations.
  • Self-motivated to work independently and able to contribute as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate technical information accurately to a range of audiences.

This permanent, full-time role offers 37 hours per week, with a generous paid annual leave entitlement of 5 weeks, in addition to bank holidays and a pension scheme. The position is based at our modern teaching and research facilities on the Moulsecoomb campus.
