Job summary

McLaren Automotive in Woking, England, seeks a Technical Specialist to own and evolve the systems tooling landscape. You will define roadmaps for requirements capture, analysis, and AI-driven workflow improvements, and deliver integrated toolchains that boost traceability and delivery quality.

You will implement and maintain Jama-based workflows, train users, and drive governance across tooling while collaborating with engineering and programme teams.

Qualifications

• Experience with systems engineering tools and requirements management in complex environments.
• Strong understanding of systems engineering processes including traceability and verification.
• Hands-on experience configuring and improving integrated toolchains for repeatable workflows.
• Experience supporting Jama users with onboarding and guidance.
• Proficient in Python, Java and C++ for tooling development and automation.
• Ability to translate business needs into practical tooling enhancements.
• Awareness of AI capabilities and their appropriate application in engineering processes.

Prioritise development in line with business needs, engineering demand and long-term capability goals.• Toolchain Development & Administration Develop, configure and maintain the core systems engineering toolchain, ensuring tools are reliable, integrated where appropriate and able to support traceable, testable and efficient delivery of engineering outputs.• Process Improvement & Automation Identify opportunities to improve engineering workflows, remove manual effort and increase consistency through better methods, automation and fit-for-purpose tooling enhancements.• Jama User Enablement Support the business in adopting and using Jama effectively through onboarding, training materials, user guidance, community management and continuous support, helping to embed robust and consistent ways of working.• Tool Governance & Standards Maintain clear governance, standards and data discipline across systems engineering tools, templates and workflows to ensure quality, consistency and confidence in the resulting engineering artefacts.What You'll Bring• Experience with systems engineering tools, requirements management platforms and engineering workflow automation in a complex technical environment.• Strong understanding of systems engineering processes, including requirements traceability, verification linkage and delivery of high-quality engineering artefacts.• Practical experience configuring, maintaining or improving integrated toolchains that support efficient and repeatable engineering workflows.• Experience supporting Jama users through onboarding, training material development and day-to-day guidance on effective tool usage.• Hands-on software development experience, with practical capability in languages such as Python, Java and C++, together with an understanding of distributed systems, to support tooling development, automation and integration activities.• Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation, and to translate business needs into practical tooling or workflow enhancements.• Awareness of emerging AI capabilities and the judgement to apply them appropriately within engineering processes and controls.• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to work across engineering, programme and business teams to drive adoption and continuous improvement.What We'll Do for YouWe offer a wide – ranging benefits package, which includes:* Structured career development framework* 25 days’ holiday, plus bank holiday.
