Responsibilities (The opportunity)
- Act as the first point of contact for technical and process-related queries, providing formal support options where needed.
- Drive process improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities and promoting relevant company processes within the team.
- Track project activities of each Tech Lead through regular catch‑ups and review of reporting materials intended for the project design authority.
- Periodically review each Tech Lead’s L4 project plans.
- Provide proactive guidance and course correction based on project activities, identifying potential issues before they arise.
- Support project gate reviews by advising on review pack contents and conducting pre‑reviews where appropriate.
- Serve as an escalation route for realistic, cost‑effective technical delivery solutions for stakeholders such as Head of Actuators, Equipment EDA and Head of Equipment Delivery.
- Tailor support and involvement levels based on each team Tech Lead’s needs.
- Investigate opportunities for offloading to meet project goals.
- Provide technical input to bids supporting Actuator CofEx new business.
Qualifications
- Strong power electronics background, ideally with previous design experience of PMSM control systems (e.g., automotive traction or defense).
- Experience with mixed analogue & digital control electronics design, including power inverters (discrete gate drives & 3‑phase bridge power stage), DC‑DC converters, digital position encoders, analogue position sensors, current sensors & signal conditioning, and discrete control logic.
- Full product development life‑cycle experience.
- Experience with Design for Test & Design for Manufacture.
- Experience designing for EMC & ENV compliance.
- Experience designing for high safety integrity (Design Assurance Level / Safety Integrity Level).
- At least an appreciation for Systems Engineering, System Architecture Design, Thermal Management techniques and Reliability.
