Job summary

SRG are recruiting a Technical Service Chemist for a permanent, site-based role in Greater Manchester. You will act as the technical link between customers and the business, handling formulation development, applications support and field service across the polymer industry.

The role involves hands-on laboratory work, training and providing solutions to technical queries, with travel within the UK (and potentially Europe) to support customers and drive new business opportunities.

Qualifications

• A degree or similar qualification in Chemistry or a related field.
• Experience providing technical support and hands-on formulation/development of polymer products.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
• Well organised with good time management.
• Enthusiastic, keen to learn and self-motivated.

Responsibilities

Technical Service Chemist required on a permanent basis, based in Greater Manchester. Requiring proven industrial experience of the polymer industry, specifically thermoplastics, in a technical capacity.

SRG are working with a well-established manufacturer of speciality chemical products for the polymer industry who have been consistently growing for a number of years. They are now seeking to hire a Technical Service Chemist at their site based in Greater Manchester, looking to build relationships with customers and suppliers to assist all process related issues. This role will be a laboratory based and hands-on role that will include being a direct link between customers and the business including technical and application issues, new formulation development and creating valued solutions. This role will suit candidates that have experience within a technical role involving polymers (specifically themorplastics), either in developing polymer-based products or working in an existing technical service/customer support role within the polymer industry.

Role / Description

• Liaising directly with customers & clients to provide technical support.
• Responding to technical enquires and investigating / resolving complaints.
• Provide product training & support both internally & externally as a technical & applications expert within the company.
• Conduct application & stability testing of new and existing products using a range of techniques.
• Assist with the development and implementation of new products.
• Travelling throughout the UK and potentially within Europe visiting new & existing customers to provide onsite technical support & develop new business.
• Supporting in development projects of new and existing products.

Requirements

• A degree or similar qualification in Chemistry or a related field
• Previous experience of providing technical support/hands-on formulation and development of polymer products
• Excellent communication skills both written and spoken
• Well organised with good time management skills
• Enthusiastic, keen to learn and self-motivated
