Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent in Chemistry or Materials Science.
  • Industrial experience in laboratory testing, technical service, quality control or R&D.
  • Strong data interpretation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in coatings, adhesives, paper or film is desirable.
  • Knowledge of statistics or DOE is advantageous.
  • Project management experience is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritise and coordinate technical service requests to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.
  • Support customer requirements and short-term product development activities.
  • Conduct laboratory testing safely and per procedures.
  • Ensure testing data is recorded, analysed and communicated clearly.
  • Coordinate production and customer trials when required.
  • Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to align priorities.
  • Assist investigations into quality issues and customer enquiries.
  • Prepare technical reports and recommendations from lab findings.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and compliance with HSSE standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement across technical and lab activities.

SRG are working with a market-leading materials manufacturer specialising in the development and production of advanced coated products for a range of industrial applications. They are now seeking a Technical Service Chemist to join their technical team in Cheshire East on a permanent basis. This role is designed for someone with strong laboratory and technical support experience and will involve coordinating technical service activities, laboratory testing and customer-focused technical support projects. This role will suit candidates with recent and proven industrial experience within technical service, quality control, laboratory testing or R&D and who are comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Experience within coatings, adhesives, paper or film manufacturing is desirable but not essential.

Role/Description
  • Prioritise and coordinate technical service requests to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.

  • Ensure testing data is recorded, analysed and communicated effectively.

  • Assist with technical reports and recommendations based on laboratory findings.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and ensure all H&S, compliance and training standards are met.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across technical and laboratory activities.
Requirements
  • Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Chemistry, Materials Science or a related discipline.
  • Proven industrial experience in laboratory testing, technical service, quality control or R&D.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data effectively.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams and with customers.
  • Experience within coatings, adhesives, paper, film or a related manufacturing environment is desirable.
  • Knowledge of statistics, data analysis or design of experiments would be advantageous.
  • Project management experience is beneficial but not essential.
