Job summary

SRG in Greater Manchester is seeking a permanent R&D Technician for a hands-on, laboratory-based role developing polymer-based products, particularly thermoplastics. You will support the development of new and existing formulations and work closely with customers to provide technical support.

Candidates should hold a chemistry degree, have industrial experience in polymer product development, be well organised, with strong communication and a proactive, learning attitude.

Qualifications

• A degree or equivalent in Chemistry or a related field.
• Proven industrial experience of developing polymer-based products (ideally thermoplastics).
• Recent chemistry graduates with an industrial placement year are encouraged to apply.
• Excellent written and spoken communication; well-organised with good time management.

Responsibilities

• Support the development of new and existing polymer-based products.
• Potentially liaise with customers to provide technical support.
• Conduct application and stability testing of products using a range of techniques.
• Remain up-to-date with developments in the market.
• Maintain laboratory areas and equipment.
