Job summary

Ford and Slater, one of the UK’s largest DAF Truck dealer groups, has a vacancy for a Technical Service Advisor at our Birtley depot in Chester-le-Street area. The role involves managing service bookings, preparing estimates, and keeping customers updated on costs and progress.

You will work 45 hours per week (Mon-Fri 9:00–6:30) with one in three Saturdays, and benefit from training and progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial vehicle, motor trade or related sector as a Technical Service Advisor or similar role.
• Passion for trucks and knowledge of truck/trailer parts is a bonus.
• Knowledge of vehicle repair scheduling is preferred but not essential.
• Customer-focused with excellent communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
• PC literate; DMS system experience would be an advantage.
• Must have a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Manage service bookings on a day-to-day basis and ensure efficient workshop loading.
• Prepare accurate, clear, and timely service estimates.
• Keep customers updated on costs, progress and authorisations.
• Prepare job cards and raise invoices.

Ford and Slater are one the UK’s largest DAF Truck dealers group with 16 locations from Norwich to Birtley in the North East, employing over 900 staff whilst remaining a family run business. We currently have a vacancy for a Technical Service Advisor at our Birtley depot.

Who are we looking for as a Technical Service Advisor:

• You will have previous experience working within the commercial vehicle, motor trade or an associated sector as a Technical Service Advisor or in a similar role.
• Or have a passion for trucks and know your truck / trailer parts.
• Knowledge of vehicle repair scheduling preferred but not essential.
• A customer focused individual with excellent communication skills.
• The ability to multitask and work well under pressure.
• PC Literate (DMS system experience would be an advantage).
• Full UK driving licence.

The Technical Service Advisor role / responsibilities include (but not limited to):

Managing service bookings on day-to-day basis, ensuring efficient workshop loading. Complete service estimates accurately, clearly, and quickly. Keep customers up to date with costs, progress and authorisations. Prepare job cards & raise invoices.

Working: 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am – 6:30pm.

Plus 1 in 3 Saturday morning’s.
