Job summary

ECM Selection is seeking a Technical Sales (Materials) professional for Cambridge, UK. You will combine science and engineering knowledge with commercial drive to win and deliver high-value contracts, owning opportunities end-to-end.

You will work with technical and sourcing specialists to understand customer requirements, shape the solution, and ultimately close deals. Clear UK work permissions are required for this role.

This multinational materials company is expanding its Materials Solutions team and seeking candidates with a STEM background who are keen to get involved in end-to-end technical sales. This company has an extensive portfolio of products and services numbering in the hundreds of thousands touching on all aspects of modern engineering and science. With such a large offering, customers often need help and guidance to find the right material and format, be that something off-the-shelf, or a one-of-a-kind custom composition. This is where their Materials Solutions team come in.

You will combine science and engineering knowledge with commercial drive to win and deliver high-value contracts. You will own opportunities end-to-end understanding customer’s technical requirements, shaping the solution, working with technical and sourcing specialists and ultimately closing the deal. As a member of the Materials Solutions team, you will receive support and guidance as you develop into this role and there are clear opportunities for career progression.

Requirements:

• A STEM degree, ideally in materials science or other closely related discipline such as chemistry or engineering.
• Some technically focused customer facing experience. This could be in technical or solution sales, applications engineering, consultancy or other commercial role.
• Genuine interest in working on the commercial side of a technical business.
