The Role

As a Technical Safety Engineer, you will support the safe and efficient operation of offshore assets. Working within the QSHE team, you’ll be the go-to expert for safety engineering, providing in-house guidance and ensuring compliance with UK legislation and industry best practices.

The client conducts consequence modelling in-house, and they are specifically looking for candidates with experience in PHAST (and similar tools).

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Creating Barrier Diagrams (Bowties) and developing risk visualisation tools
  • Consequence modelling using PHAST and FLARESIM software
  • Conducting Mini QRAs with event and fault tree development
  • Carrying out Hazardous Area Classification and Fire & Explosion Risk Assessments
  • Preparing Safety Case material changes and conducting 5-Year Thorough Reviews
  • Applying knowledge of COMAH regulations and (ideally) Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
What We’re Looking For
  • A strong technical background – Degree in Process Safety, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar
  • Software skills – Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel), PHAST, PHA-Pro, BowTie XP, FLARESIM
  • Great communicator – Able to clearly present technical findings and liaise effectively with senior stakeholders and regulators
  • Organised & analytical – You thrive under pressure, manage multiple priorities with ease, and are confident in your technical judgement
Why Apply?

You’ll be joining a forward-thinking team at the heart of the UK’s energy sector. This is a fantastic opportunity to make your mark in a pivotal role with a company that values expertise, innovation, and safety above all else.
