Job description

Technical Regulatory Reporting Analyst

London | Permanent | Financial Markets | Regulatory Reporting & Data

We are working with a globally recognised financial markets organisation at the heart of the international commodities market. They’re looking for a Technical Regulatory Reporting Analyst to join their London team, supporting regulatory reporting across both the exchange and clearing business. This is a great opportunity for an experienced regulatory reporting professional who enjoys working with data, investigating complex problems and improving the technology and processes behind reporting, rather than simply managing BAU requirements.

The Role

You’ll play a key role in delivering regulatory reporting obligations across EMIR, MiFID II, SFTR and other regulatory frameworks, while helping to improve the processes, controls and technology that underpin them. The role sits at the intersection of regulatory reporting, data analysis, technology and business change. You’ll work closely with Regulatory Reporting, Technology, Compliance, Operations and third-party vendors to investigate issues, improve data quality, automate processes and support strategic regulatory initiatives. You’ll have the opportunity to make a tangible impact on how reporting operates; identifying inefficiencies, challenging existing processes and helping develop more effective and automated solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Support EMIR Transaction, Position, Valuation and Collateral Reporting for the clearing business
  • Manage SFTR reporting and MiFID reporting requirements
  • Support other regulatory reporting obligations across the exchange and clearing businesses
  • Develop and maintain SQL queries for reconciliations, investigations and reporting validation
  • Analyse large regulatory datasets to identify exceptions, data quality issues and control weaknesses
  • Use Python and other analytical tools to automate manual processes and controls
  • Produce accurate and meaningful management information and reporting
  • Maintain static data and reporting procedures
  • Regularly review BAU processes and identify opportunities for automation and efficiency
  • Challenge existing processes and implement improvements where appropriate
  • Investigate client queries and resolve reporting issues
  • Perform UAT to ensure system and development changes are implemented correctly
  • Conduct detailed root cause analysis across multiple systems and data sources
  • Support data lineage analysis, documenting the flow of information from source systems through to regulatory reports
  • Produce data-driven insights to support operational and strategic decision-making
  • Work with stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation
  • Contribute to regulatory change and wider business project
What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for an experienced regulatory reporting professional who is comfortable operating in a data-heavy, technically focused environment.

You’ll Ideally Have
  • 5+ years’ experience in regulatory reporting, financial reporting, controls or a closely related environment
  • Experience investigating complex data issues and conducting root cause analysis
  • Strong experience working with large datasets and performing data reconciliations
  • An understanding of the end-to-end transaction lifecycle and regulatory reporting processes
  • Experience supporting change initiatives, process improvements or technology projects
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify anomalies and inconsistencies
  • Experience within an Exchange or Central Counterparty (CCP) environment would be particularly advantageous.
Technical Skills

You should have a strong analytical toolkit, including:

  • SQL – confident querying, analysing and validating data from multiple sources
  • Advanced Excel – data analysis, reconciliation and reporting
  • Python – ideally used for automation, data analysis or process improvement
  • Experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI
  • Familiarity with change management tools such as JIRA and Confluence
  • Regulatory knowledge
Experience With The Following Would Be Highly Advantageous
  • EMIR
  • MiFID / MiFID II
  • SFTR
  • Regulatory reporting requirements applicable to exchanges and clearing houses

You don't necessarily need to have experience across every regulation. A strong regulatory reporting background combined with the ability and enthusiasm to learn is more important.

What will make you successful?
  • A genuinely data-driven approach to problem solving
  • The ability to translate complex data and technical issues into clear explanations for non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team
  • Excellent organisation and time management
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities against tight regulatory deadlines
  • A proactive approach to identifying problems and finding solutionsA willingness to challenge existing processes and look for better ways of working
  • Professionalism and confidence when dealing with clients and senior stakeholders
Why this role?

This is more than a traditional regulatory reporting position. You’ll be working at the intersection of financial regulation, data, technology and market infrastructure, with genuine scope to improve the way regulatory reporting operates. If you enjoy getting underneath a reporting issue to understand why it happened, working with data to find the answer, and then improving the process so it doesn't happen again, this role offers a particularly strong combination of technical and regulatory exposure.
