Job description

Recent Chemistry graduate with experience as a Buyer or Purchaser in a manufacturing organisation is required to lead a purchasing process optimisation project for a leading speciality chemical manufacturer with sites in Greater Manchester and Yorkshire.

Title: Technical Purchaser

Location: Greater Manchester

Salary: 35,000 - 50,000 (dependent on experience)

Term: Permanent

SRG is working with a well-respected, global company specialising in the creation of speciality chemicals for various markets. Currently undergoing an exciting growth phase, they are seeking a Technical Purchaser to join the Supply Chain team, ideally based at their Greater Manchester site, with regular travel to their site near Halifax. This role offers an opportunity to lead a purchasing process optimisation project within the business.

The role is 35 hours per week with flexible start and finish times.

Role / Responsibilities:

• Lead an internal purchasing process optimisation project
• Understand current purchasing and stock management processes
• Identify areas for efficiency improvements
• Utilise the internal ERP system (Sage ERP) to its full potential
• Manage the procurement process for a range of speciality chemicals
• Negotiate contracts with suppliers
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within suppliers
• Collaborate with departments such as Supply Chain and Operations
• Attend trade shows and networking events to stay informed on industry trends

Requirements:

• Recent degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry or a related field
• Proven recent experience as a Purchaser within a chemical manufacturing environment
• Ability to be on-site across all locations (Manchester and West Yorkshire) three days a week
• A proactive approach with a drive to deliver exceptional service
• Willingness to implement positive change and process improvements
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
