Job description

Recent Chemistry graduate with experience as a Buyer or Purchaser in a manufacturing organization required to lead a purchasing process optimisation project for a leading speciality chemical manufacturer with sites in Greater Manchester and Yorkshire.

Title: Technical Purchaser

Location: Greater Manchester

Term: Permanent

SRG is working with a well-respected, global company specialising in the creation of speciality chemicals for various markets. Currently undergoing an exciting growth phase, they are seeking a Technical Purchaser to join their Supply Chain team. The role is based at their site in Greater Manchester, with regular travel to their site near Halifax. This is an excellent opportunity to lead and own a purchasing process optimisation project.

Role / Responsibilities

• Lead an internal purchasing process optimisation project
• Understand current purchasing and stock management processes
• Identify areas for efficiency improvements
• Utilise the internal ERP system (Sage ERP) to its full potential
• Manage the full procurement process for speciality chemicals
• Negotiate contracts with suppliers
• Build and maintain relationships with key supplier stakeholders
• Collaborate with departments such as Supply Chain and Operations
• Attend trade shows and industry networking events

Requirements

• Recent degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry or a related field
• Proven recent experience as a Purchaser within the chemical manufacturing sector
• Ability to be on-site across all locations (Manchester and West Yorkshire) three days a week
• Proactive with a drive to deliver exceptional service
• Willingness to implement positive changes and process improvements
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
