Job summary

MTrec Ltd in Newcastle upon Tyne is recruiting a Technical Proposal Engineer for the Product Solutions team. You will support Bid Leaders by transforming customer specifications into practical engineering solutions and delivering competitive technical and commercial proposals.

You will review drawings, perform calculations, collaborate with Costing, Engineering, Purchasing and suppliers, and help hand over to the project team after order, while seeking improvements in quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND/FdEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
• Experience in engineering, applications engineering, manufacturing, proposal support, or a related technical role.
• Experience in a technical, manufacturing, or project-driven environment.
• Good understanding of engineering principles, manufacturing practices, and fabrication methods.
• Ability to interpret customer specifications, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Commercial awareness and an interest in developing technical-commercial proposals.
• Strong organisational and communication skills and the ability to coordinate across multiple disciplines and stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; basic knowledge of Autodesk tools is desirable.
• Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
• Comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
• A proactive mindset and willingness to further develop both your technical and commercial capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Translate customer specifications into practical engineering solutions, perform technical evaluations and calculations.
• Help ensure that every proposed solution is compliant, cost-effective, and fit for purpose.
• Work closely with Bid Leaders, Costing, Engineering, Purchasing, Project Management, and key suppliers across multiple customer accounts.

• Once an order is awarded, you help ensure a smooth handover to the project team by transferring the relevant technical requirements, calculations, and bid clarifications.

The Job you’ll do

• We are looking for a technically driven and commercially aware Technical Proposal

• Engineer to join our Product Solutions team.

• In this role, you will support our Bid Leaders in developing competitive technical and

commercial proposals for our customers.

About You
