Job summary

Next-Link in Slough is seeking a Technical Project Manager to lead technology-driven projects within the global DTPS team, bridging IT infrastructure with Patient Solutions stakeholders. The role combines hands-on deployment with strategic planning to deliver on time and within budget.

You will oversee installation and configuration on production servers in a non-GxP environment, manage risk, and coordinate cross-functional teams across IT and scientific stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in IT infrastructure or system integration.
• At least 3 years of Project Management experience.
• Strong communication skills for non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Technical Deployment: Overseeing all project phases from initiation to go-live within Patient Solutions scope.
• Hands-on Technical: Installations and configurations on servers; upgrade and lifecycle management of centralised scientific platforms.
• Project Management: Managing Global Patient Solutions Lab projects within scope, schedule and budget.
• Lifecycle Management: Oversee upgrades, replacements and decommissioning activities.
• Technical Oversight: Bridge IT infrastructure and non-technical teams to deliver actionable tasks.
• Planning & Risk Mitigation: Develop detailed plans, track progress and mitigate risks.
• Stakeholder Communication: Manage expectations and report progress to sponsors.
• Reporting and Compliance: Coordinate with IT Security and Compliance to meet requirements and generate status reports.

Job description

A Technical Project Manager (TPM) working within the global Digital Technology Patient Solutions (DTPS) team, who leads technology-driven projects from initiation to delivery, acting as the bridge between DT teams and Patient Solutions (Pharmaceutical Research) stakeholders. They are responsible for project planning, risk mitigation, resource allocation, and ensuring software or infrastructure projects meet quality standards on time and within budget.

We are primarily looking for a candidate that has a strong technical IT background that also has project management expertise, rather than a dedicated project manager. The role will be hands on, so the candidate will need to be comfortable carrying out installations and configurations on Production servers and workstations in a non-GxP environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Deployment: Overseeing all project phases, from initiation to go-live scientific systems within Patient Solutions scope.
  
• Hands On Technical: Perform application installations and configurations on servers. Upgrade and lifecycle the centralised scientific platforms supporting the lab environment.
  
• Project Management: Managing Global Patient Solutions Lab projects, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budget.
  
• Lifecycle Management: Oversee scientific system upgrades, replacement and decommissioning activities within Patient Solutions scope.
  
• Technical Oversight: Bridging technical (IT Infrastructure) and non-technical teams to turn high-level directives into actionable technical tasks.
  
• Planning & Risk Mitigation: Developing detailed project plans, tracking progress, and identifying/resolving potential risks or issues.
  
• Stakeholder Communication: Managing expectations with internal/external stakeholders and reporting progress to project sponsors.
  
• Reporting and Compliance: Work with IT Security and Compliance leads to ensure Patient Solutions scope meets requirements and generate reports to reflect ongoing status. Using PowerShell scripts and LDAP queries to validate the data in reports.
  
• Documentation & Process Improvement: Responsible for collating system documentation and reducing baseline operations by automating/streamlining process where possible.
  

Requirements

• Technical Expertise: Experience in IT infrastructure, or system integration with at least 8 years of experience.
  
• Project Management Expertise: Proficiency in Project Management with at least 3 years of experience.
  
• Communication: Strong skills in negotiating and communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  
• Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve technical challenges and manage project slippage.
  
• Education: Typically requires a Higher National Certificates (HNC) or Higher National Diplomas (HND) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, along with relevant certifications.
