Job summary

National Gas is seeking a Technical Portfolio & Data Analyst to join the Rotating Machinery & Cabs team. You will develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and Excel tools to provide visibility of project cost, forecast, progress, risks and delivery performance.

You will collaborate with engineering, project management, operations, finance, procurement and commercial stakeholders to turn complex project information into clear, actionable insights and to improve data governance and reporting

Qualifications

• Experience in project, programme, portfolio, technical, engineering, data or business-support environments.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with data.
• Demonstrable experience tracking project portfolios, budgets, milestones or performance.
• Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Good communication skills and confidence working with a wide range of stakeholders.
• A proactive approach to identifying problems and improving processes.
• Power BI qualification or training would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Developing and maintaining Power BI dashboards and management information for the technical portfolio.
• Tracking the Compressor Breakdown Budget, including budget, actual expenditure, commitments, forecast and variance.
• Maintaining the T3 CAPEX Project Portfolio for Rotating Machinery & Cabs.
• Tracking project budgets, milestones, risks, issues, actions and delivery status.
• Developing Excel-based portfolio, financial and project tracking tools.
• Maintaining SharePoint sites, registers, project information and document structures.
• Providing project document-control support, including document registers, revisions, approvals and close-out information.
• Maintaining the PDSA contract portfolio and tracking contract values, expenditure, key dates, renewals and actions.
• Producing regular portfolio reports, dashboards and governance information for management.
• Identifying data quality issues, trends, variances and potential delivery risks and escalating them appropriately.
• Improving and simplifying existing processes through automation, standardisation and better use of digital tools.

About the role

Are you passionate about data, Power BI and turning complex project information into clear, actionable insight? We are looking for a Technical Portfolio & Data Analyst to join our Rotating Machinery & Cabs team and play a key role in managing and reporting a significant technical project portfolio.

This role combines data analysis, portfolio management, project controls and technical administration. You will develop and maintain Power BI, Excel and SharePoint solutions that provide visibility of project cost, forecast, progress, risks, actions, contracts and delivery performance.

You will work closely with engineering, project management, operations, finance, procurement and commercial stakeholders across the Rotating Machinery & Cabs teams.

What you'll bring

We are looking for someone who is analytical, organised and commercially aware, with the ability to work confidently with technical and project teams.

Qualifications and Experience

• Power BI experience is highly desirable.

• Experience with SharePoint and Power Automate would also be advantageous.
• Experience within engineering, energy, utilities, infrastructure or another technical environment would be advantageous.
