The role of Technical Operations Manager is to lead operational delivery of several high-profile EV Charge Point operator accounts. Be accountable for management of ICP & DNO relationships, coordinating with and communicating across all stakeholders in a timely and transparent way. Responsible for processes and service delivery to and from ESP to support/assure the smooth delivery of end-user EV roll-out programmes and to promote ESP as a partner of choice to ICPs.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Own and operate the tendering process for ICPs, including setting scopes, reviewing designs, and assuring ICP responses for target sites (typically EV charging LV/HV connections) within agreed SLAs.
- Own and operate the POC Viability Assessment process from POC to site, identifying optimal solutions and outlining costs within agreed SLAs.
- Operate ESP’s programme support methodology, including tracking ICP commercial/tendering progress, delivery progress, and resolving/escalating problem sites/ICPs.
- Own and operate the ESP ICP Procurement System, including maintaining and developing partner ICP rate cards.
- Review, support, and coordinate (with support) new connection designs (with partners), land rights, equipment sourcing/specifications, and ICP supply chain.
- Responsible for expediting and accelerating POC Viability and related requests, supported by the technical administration team.
- Responsible for accurate reporting of SLAs and KPIs for ICP (EV-related) activity.
- Support ICP delivery of client programmes, ensuring quality, cost, service, delivery, communication, and safety outcomes.
- Secure viable POCs for end-users, challenging, persuading, and negotiating with DNOs as needed.
- Build and maintain DNO relationships to support ESP’s proposition.
- Engage and coordinate ESP technical/engineering expertise as required.
- Identify and deliver value engineering opportunities throughout the process.
- Liaise internally with departments such as Pricing, Commercial, Legal, Ops, and Accounts for each programme delivery.
Person Specification
- Power Distribution (HV & LV) knowledge, likely gained from DNO/IDNO/ICP/M&E experience.
- Experience in construction, electrical, or utilities industries.
- Customer-centric approach with a track record of exceeding expectations and maintaining high-quality relationships.
- Strong senior stakeholder management skills and clear communication abilities.
- Experience in coordinating stakeholders and achieving project and business targets.
- Electrical engineering background with switchgear experience.
- Proven commercial skills, including procurement and contract management.
- Client-side consultancy experience.
