The Moredun Foundation's aquaculture division seeks a Technical Officer near Edinburgh to conduct studies on vaccines, therapeutics and fish health products. Regular travel to East Lothian and Aberdeen facilities will be required.
You will contribute to laboratory work, develop expertise, and support facility operations including fish husbandry; occasional weekend work may be required with extra payment.
We are seeking applications for a Technical Officer within the Aquaculture division of Moredun Scientific (a commercial subsidiary of the Moredun Foundation, a registered charity). You will join a team of people involved in the conduct of Aquaculture studies testing vaccines, therapeutics and other fish health products for use in farmed fish.
The post will be based at Moredun Scientific, Pentlands Science Park, near Edinburgh. There will be a requirement for regular travel to an aquaculture research facility in East Lothian and periodic travel to a facility in Aberdeen.
You will act in the role of Technical Officer for studies appropriate to your experience level and be involved in laboratory work and live-phase support, you will be expected to develop areas of expertise and take responsibility for specific work areas.
Additionally, you will assist the local team with facility operations, including fish husbandry.
You may be required to participate in regular weekend work, for which additional payment is made.
