An opportunity has become available for a driven, detail-oriented Senior Environmental Officer to support site development, regulatory compliance and environmental management across multiple marine locations. For the right individual, this position offers a clear pathway into environmental management, with the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility, influence the future direction of the function and progress into an Environmental Manager role over time.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Driving site development activities, including coordinating environmental impact assessments (EIAs), stakeholder consultations and licence applications across marine location
  • Managing consent compliance processes, supporting renewal applications, maintaining regulatory databases and preparing submissions for regulatory authorities
  • Monitoring and reporting on environmental impact, contributing to the Environmental Management System (EMS) and supporting continuous improvement across operations
  • Liaising with external contractors and statutory bodies, ensuring surveys, mapping and development assessments are completed to regulatory and operational standards
  • Staying ahead of industry developments, maintaining expert knowledge of Scottish aquaculture regulations, environmental frameworks and consent trends
  • Supporting budgeting and strategic planning, contributing data-driven insights and deputising for the Environmental Manager when needed
What we are looking for:
  • Essential: Significant experience within the aquaculture industry, with a strong understanding of marine farming operations and environmental challenges
  • Degree in Environmental Science, Marine Science, Ecology, or a related discipline
  • Proven experience managing and delivering marine Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs)
  • Strong working knowledge of environmental regulation and consenting requirements within the aquaculture sector
  • Experience using GIS software and environmental sampling and monitoring techniques
  • Membership of IEMA or an equivalent professional body (desirable)
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly to remote coastal and marine sites
Why join the team?

This is a key role within a growing organisation that places sustainability, innovation and responsible aquaculture at the heart of its operations. Working across multiple marine locations, you will play an influential role in site development, environmental compliance and the ongoing evolution of environmental best practice across the business.

For an ambitious environmental professional, this position offers the opportunity to take ownership of significant projects, influence decision-making and develop towards an Environmental Manager position over time.

The role offers remote working, with fully expensed occasional travel to sites across Scotland as required for fieldwork, stakeholder engagement and team meetings.

A competitive salary is available depending on experience, alongside excellent opportunities for professional development, career progression and increased responsibility.
