WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking an experienced, talented and motivated Technical Manager, keen to travel, and be a key member of our dynamic Hepburn Team. It is essential that you are always supporting all clients and possible clients in an efficient and professional manner.
Role Overview:
As the Technical Manager, you will oversee the technical operations and engineering support related to wastewater treatment systems and cleaning products designed for the marine industry. You will also manage key client accounts, ensuring customer satisfaction through excellent service, technical support, and tailored solutions. You will manage a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring the development, implementation, and maintenance of high-performance systems that adhere to industry regulations. You will be the subject matter expert, driving continuous improvements in efficiency and sustainability while also contributing to sales and business development.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians to deliver effective wastewater treatment solutions.
Ensure the team adheres to safety, quality, and regulatory standards in all projects.
Develop training programs to ensure staff are kept up to date with emerging technologies and best practices.
Technical Expertise:
Provide technical guidance in the design, optimization, and operation of wastewater treatment systems for the marine industry.
Oversee troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical issues.
Collaborate with product development teams to enhance cleaning products and wastewater solutions based on industry needs.
Account Management and Sales:
o Manage and build relationships with existing key clients, ensuring their needs are met through effective technical support and service.
o Develop and implement sales strategies to promote and grow the wastewater treatment solutions business within the marine industry.
o Identify new business opportunities, preparing proposals and presenting technical solutions to potential clients.
o Collaborate with the sales team to ensure the successful conversion of leads into active clients.
o Provide pre- and post-sales support for clients, offering technical advice, training, and troubleshooting assistance.
Project Management:
Manage the end-to-end delivery of technical projects, including design, installation, and commissioning of wastewater treatment systems.
Ensure project timelines, budgets, and customer requirements are met.
Prepare and review technical documentation, including proposals, reports, and system specifications.
Compliance and Quality Control:
Ensure all projects comply with environmental and marine industry regulations.
Conduct regular audits and inspections to monitor system performance and ensure ongoing compliance.
Implement and manage quality assurance processes to ensure high-quality standards are maintained across all technical operations.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Communicate technical concepts effectively to customers and stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and project partners.
Provide pre- and post-sales support for clients, offering technical advice, training, and troubleshooting assistance.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in a technical management role, preferably within the marine industry or wastewater treatment.
In-depth knowledge of wastewater treatment technologies, marine pollution regulations, and environmental compliance.
Strong project management skills with experience in leading cross-functional teams.
Experience in account management and/or sales, with a proven ability to develop and maintain client relationships.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
Proficiency in industry-specific software tools and systems.
Desirable Skills:
Master’s degree in a relevant field.
Experience in developing sustainable and environmentally-friendly solutions for wastewater treatment in the marine sector.
Knowledge of international standards and regulations in marine pollution and wastewater treatment.
Sales experience, particularly in the technical field, with the ability to identify new business opportunities and drive sales.
