Job summary

Anne Corder Recruitment Ltd seeks an experienced Technical Manager for Peterborough and Wellingborough to lead food safety, quality and compliance across two sites. You will manage three direct reports and drive improvements while ensuring supplier and process standards meet customer requirements.

You will develop HACCP plans, lead audits and work with Operations and Quality to close gaps, with close collaboration to NPD, Supply Chain, Engineering and Hygiene to approve new products.

Qualifications

• Experience in food manufacturing technical or quality functions.
• Level 3 or Level 4 HACCP qualification.
• Lead Auditor qualification and Level 3 Food Hygiene desirable.
• Strong communication and leadership with cross-department collaboration.
• Organised, detail-oriented with good Word and Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage HACCP plans, lead team meetings and reviews, and maintain up-to-date allergen risk assessments across both sites.
• Lead customer, regulatory and external audits, ensuring corrective actions are completed effectively and within agreed timescales.
• Review customer codes of practice, legislation and industry standards, identifying gaps and working with Operations and Quality teams to implement improvements.
• Oversee customer complaints, non-conformances and incidents, driving thorough investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Support supplier approval, auditing and performance monitoring, ensuring raw materials and specifications meet food safety, quality, legal and customer standards.
• Lead and develop your team, monitor technical KPIs and work closely with NPD, Supply Chain, Engineering and Hygiene to support site standards and new product approvals.

This Technical Manager role is a brilliant opportunity for a food manufacturing professional who takes pride in maintaining high standards, enjoys solving problems and works well across different teams. Reporting to the Head of Technical and managing three direct reports, you will take responsibility for technical compliance across both sites, ensuring products, processes and suppliers meet food safety, legal and customer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead customer, regulatory and external audits, ensuring corrective actions are completed effectively and within agreed timescales
• Review customer codes of practice, legislation and industry standards, identifying gaps and working with Operations and Quality teams to implement improvements

Requirements

• A background in food manufacturing technical or quality functions, with experience of food safety systems, risk assessments and factory or internal systems auditing
• Experience as part of a HACCP team, supported by a Level 3 or Level 4 HACCP qualification
• Experience auditing suppliers, with a Lead Auditor qualification and Level 3 Food Hygiene certificate desirable
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to build relationships, develop your team and work closely with colleagues across different departments
• An organised, practical approach, with strong attention to detail, good Word and Excel skills, and the confidence to challenge processes and drive improvements
