Job summary

The Bedford College Group is seeking a Technical Lecturer in Plumbing, Heating & Gas to join the Construction department across Corby and Wellingborough campuses. You will deliver theory and practical teaching focused on Plumbing, Heating and Energy Sources, supporting learners to achieve qualifications and progression into employment.

Applicants should hold a Level 3 Diploma in Plumbing and Heating and a Level 3 Teaching Award, with English and Maths at Level 2 or equivalent, and be willing to

• Must hold Level 3 Diploma in Plumbing & Heating and a Level 3 Teaching Award.
• English and Maths at Level 2 or equivalent are required.
• Willing to achieve PGCE/Cert Ed and TAQA assessor qualifications where required.
• Up-to-date vocational knowledge in plumbing, heating and related technologies.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop and deliver theory and practical teaching across Plumbing, Heating, Energy Sources and renewables.
• Monitor learner progress, provide timely interventions and pastoral support.

Role: Technical Lecturer – Plumbing, Heating & Gas

Location: Tresham College – Corby and Wellingborough Campuses

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications, plus up to a £10,000 market supplement, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About The Role

We are currently seeking a Technical Lecturer in Plumbing, Heating & Gas to join our Construction department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Technical Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

• Built Environment & Sustainable Technologies Teaching - Plan, develop and deliver engaging theory and practical teaching across Built Environment and Sustainable Development programmes, with a focus on Plumbing, Heating, Energy Sources and Renewable Technologies.
• Learner Progress, Support & Behaviour - Monitor attendance, progress and conduct, provide timely interventions and pastoral support, maintain high expectations, and build positive professional relationships that help learners achieve their goals and progress into meaningful employment.
• Planning, Assessment & Quality Learning - Develop schemes of work, lesson plans and learning resources, deliver differentiated activities, assess and record achievement, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to continuous improvement of teaching, learning and assessment.
• Industry Relevance, Curriculum & Professional Development - Ensure learning reflects current industry practices and real-world applications, contribute to curriculum development and work experience opportunities, and continuously update professional knowledge, teaching practice and relevant qualifications.
• Safeguarding, Inclusion & Health and Safety - Maintain safe and inclusive classroom and workshop environments, promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, enforce health and safety requirements, and maintain appropriate professional boundaries with learners.

About You

• Qualifications & Teaching Credentials - Holds a Level 3 Diploma in Plumbing and Heating and a Level 3 Teaching Award, with English and Maths at Level 2 or equivalent, plus a willingness to achieve PGCE/Cert Ed and TAQA assessor qualifications where required.
• Industry Expertise & Teaching Skills - Brings current plumbing and heating industry experience, up-to-date vocational and technological knowledge, and the ability to plan and deliver engaging teaching across different subjects, learner levels and learning approaches.
• Learner Progress & Quality Experience - Committed to motivating and supporting learners, monitoring progress and intervening promptly where required, while creating a welcoming environment and consistently delivering a high-quality learning experience.
• Organisation, Communication & Digital Skills - Demonstrates strong communication, teamwork and organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines, maintain accurate records and confidently use Microsoft Office, Teams, ProMonitor or similar digital systems.
• Safeguarding, Safety & Professional Development - Committed to safeguarding, professional boundaries, health and safety and continuous professional development, with a flexible approach to working arrangements and the ability to work across College locations as required.
