Job summary

The Bedford College Group is seeking a Technical Lecturer – Electrical Installations to deliver engaging teaching at Tresham College’s Corby & Wellingborough campuses. You will plan, deliver and assess Electrical Installation & related Built Environment modules, ensuring practical relevance and learner progress.

Key requirements include Level 2 Electrical Installations and willingness to pursue Level 3 Teaching Award/TAQA.

Qualifications

• Holds a Level 2 Electrical Installations qualification with current industry knowledge.
• Able to teach across vocational areas with practical and theoretical delivery.
• Willing to obtain Level 3 Teaching Qualification (TAQA/Cert Ed) and continue professional development.

Responsibilities

• Deliver electrical installation and building services teaching across programmes.
• Plan schemes of work, assess progress and provide feedback.
• Maintain safe learning environments and manage learner behaviour.
• Contribute to curriculum development and student support.

Role: Technical Lecturer – Electrical Installations

Location: Tresham College – Corby & Wellingborough Campuses

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications, plus up to a £10,000 market supplement, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About The Role

• Electrical & Building Services Teaching - Plan, develop and deliver engaging, industry-relevant teaching across Electrical Installation, Building Services, Gas and related Built Environment programmes, combining practical and theoretical learning to meet individual learner needs.
• Planning, Assessment & Learner Progress - Develop schemes of work and learning resources, assess and record achievement, provide constructive feedback, monitor attendance and progress, and implement appropriate interventions to support successful learner outcomes.
• Classroom, Workshop & Behaviour Management - Maintain safe and effective learning environments, manage learner behaviour and conduct in line with College procedures, apply appropriate risk assessments, and ensure students follow required health and safety standards.
• Curriculum Development & Student Support - Contribute to course development and quality improvement, provide pastoral support, facilitate work experience and enrichment opportunities, liaise with awarding bodies and external partners, and refer learners to specialist support where appropriate.
• Professional Standards, Safeguarding & Development - Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, and health and safety, maintain accurate course administration, participate in continuous professional development, and keep teaching practice aligned with current industry developments and College expectations.

About You

• Electrical Qualifications & Industry Expertise - Holds a Level 2 Electrical Installations qualification, supported by relevant industry experience, current vocational skills, and up-to-date knowledge of technology and quality assurance within the electrical sector.
• Teaching, Assessment & Learner Engagement - Able to teach across different vocational areas and learner levels using varied approaches, with the ability to demonstrate practical skills, motivate and inspire students, and maintain a strong focus on learner achievement.
• Professional Qualifications & Development - Willing to achieve relevant teaching and assessment qualifications, including a Level 3 Teaching Award, TAQA and Cert Ed, while continuously developing industry knowledge, skills and professional practice.
• Communication, Organisation & Teamwork - Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills, effective organisation and time management, reflective practice, flexibility, and the ability to contribute positively as part of a team.
• Safeguarding, Health & Safety & Flexibility - Committed to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults, maintaining appropriate professional boundaries, applying health and safety requirements, and working flexibly across College locations as required.
