Job summary

Lloyds Wealth is seeking an experienced Technical Lead to lead and develop a high-performing Software Engineering team in Leeds. You will translate business priorities into technology strategies, ensuring secure, scalable and resilient software.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will balance hands-on delivery with people leadership, mentoring engineers, defining roadmaps, and guiding cross‑functional teams through design, development, testing, deployment and ongoing support.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading, line managing or mentoring Software Engineers in a delivery‑focused environment.
• Strong hands‑on software development experience with Node.js and Java; UI experience with React.
• Broad technology coverage including AWS, GCP, API integration, CI/CD, and container orchestration.
• Experience designing secure, scalable, resilient software and APIs.
• Experience across the full software development lifecycle and governance.
• Strong communication and stakeholder influencing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a Software Engineers team, shaping priorities and capability development.
• Deliver and own roadmaps with quality and timely delivery across multiple initiatives.
• Provide technical guidance through design reviews, architecture discussions and coding standards.
• Engage with stakeholders, vendors and partners to align technology with business goals.
• Represent Software Engineering in cross‑functional changes, migrations and governance.
