Job summary

Arup is seeking a Technical Lead – Marine Ecologist to drive growth, quality and sustainability of our Marine Ecology offering across the UK and Europe. This strategic role combines technical expertise with market development, client relationship building, and leadership within the ecology team.

You will map opportunities, lead major projects, ensure regulatory compliance, and strengthen internal capabilities to meet growing demand while aligning with Arup’s values and legacy.

Qualifications

• Degree (and ideally postgraduate qualification) in Marine Ecology or related discipline.
• Chartered status (CEnv, CEcol or equivalent) desirable.
• Proven track record in Marine Ecology with leadership experience.
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks in marine ecology and environmental management.
• Ability to build and sustain client relationships at senior levels.

Responsibilities

• Map out existing and potential Marine Ecology opportunities within the UK and European markets.
• Build relationships with major clients and position Arup as a trusted advisor in Marine Ecology.
• Assess team skills and capacity; audit supply chain and partners for capacity and quality.
• Secure and deliver Marine Ecology lead roles on major projects and ensure delivery excellence and regulatory compliance.
