Job summary

Arup is seeking an experienced Technical Lead – Marine Ecologist to drive growth, quality, and sustainability of our Marine Ecology offering across the UK and Europe. This strategic role requires strong technical expertise in Marine Ecology and the ability to map market opportunities and strengthen internal capabilities.

The successful candidate will ensure the Marine Ecology service line remains commercially robust, technically excellent, and aligned with client needs and future market drivers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Marine Ecology, Marine Biology, Environmental Science or related discipline.
• Chartered status (CEnv, CEcol or equivalent) desirable.
• Proven track record in Marine Ecology with leadership across UK/European waters.
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and marine environmental management.
• Ability to build and sustain senior-level client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Map existing and potential Marine Ecology opportunities across UK and Europe.
• Build strong relationships with major clients and position Arup as a trusted advisor in Marine Ecology.
• Assess skills, capacity and distribution within the ecology team; audit supply chain capacity and quality.
• Conduct gap analysis to inform reskilling, recruitment and workforce planning.
• Secure and deliver Marine Ecology lead roles on major projects ensuring profitability and delivery excellence.
