Job summary

Era4 is seeking a hands-on Technical Lead to design, build and scale sovereign AI/HPC infrastructure in the UK. You will lead GPU platforms, drive reliability, implement automation, mentor engineers and coordinate with SRE, platform engineering and vendor teams to ensure production readiness.

You will contribute to live incidents, observability improvements and future roadmap for GPU clusters and Kubernetes environments across healthcare, research and public-sector workloads.

Qualifications

• Hands-on production infrastructure experience with HPC/GPU AI infra.
• Depth in HPC, GPU, AI infra, research computing or high-density compute.
• Experience operating production infrastructure across compute, storage and networking.
• At least one workload orchestration layer (Slurm, Kubernetes, Run:ai, LSF, PBS, etc.).
• Familiarity with open-source monitoring and troubleshooting tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead infrastructure for GPU, compute, storage and networking platforms.
• Act as technical authority across platform engineering, SRE and customer teams.
• Mentor engineers and define technical standards and incident response practices.
• Lead investigations during major incidents and improve observability and reliability.
• Oversee deployment processes, automation and in‑house agent capabilities.
• Support customer onboarding, escalations and platform adoption.
• Contribute to roadmap and deployment of GPU clusters and Kubernetes environments.
