Ocean Infinity seeks an ambitious Technical Lead – Data Processing to join the Data Intelligence team as the technical authority for data processing. Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in bathymetry data acquisition and processing.
  • Experience across marine, transition zone, seabed, offshore windfarm, pipeline inspection and cable route surveys.
  • Proficiency with DP-software including Caris HIPS & SIPS, Qimera, NaviEdit/NaviModel, Janus, POSPac, NavLab and QGIS.
  • Strong leadership experience in managing and mentoring multidisciplinary data processing teams.
  • Excellent understanding of acquisition technologies, recording systems, and source technologies.

Ocean Infinity is seeking an ambitious, collaborative and innovative Technical Lead – Data Processing to join our growing team. The successful candidate will join the Data Intelligence team as the technical authority and strategic leader for data processing. The role owns the technical direction, quality assurance, and future industry‑leading capability development for data processing services, ensuring robust operational delivery while driving innovation in seismic acquisition technologies, processing workflows, interpretation methodologies, and integrated geoscience solutions at Ocean Infinity. The position bridges current production needs with the future‑state architecture of our data processing solutions, ensuring today’s data workflows are robust, scalable, and trusted while shaping next‑generation solutions through automation and applied AI in partnership with our technology, digital, and software teams.

What you will do:
Technical Leadership & Ownership
  • Act as Technical Authority for data acquisition, processing and interpretation.
  • Be the driving force behind new software and technology developments in the data processing space in collaboration with our technology, digital, and software teams.
  • Lead and manage data discipline, providing mentorship, technical guidance, and development support to data processors, and, where relevant, partner companies.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of projects from survey design through acquisition, processing, interpretation, and ground model development.
  • Provide technical leadership across AUV, cable route, pipeline inspection, and offshore windfarm survey projects.
  • Ensure high technical standards in QC, interpretation, analysis, and reporting of geophysical survey data, and provide hands‑on leadership, mentorship, and guidance to data teams on automation‑first delivery.
Commercial & Client Engagement
  • Represent the business as the technical lead for data processing in client engagements, technical workshops, and industry forums.
  • Develop and promote the company’s technical capabilities and data processing service offerings.
  • Collaborate with our Technology, Commercial, and Marine teams to develop, implement, and deliver new data processing software solutions that enhance our technical delivery and commercial performance.
  • Support data processing technology development activities and launch strategies in new markets, frontier areas, and emerging technologies.
Data Processing & Interpretation
  • Lead development and implementation of advanced data processing workflows.
  • Provide expert support for seismic data acquisition, processing, and interpretation activities.
  • Oversee and provide expert support of bathymetry data collected using vessel ROV, AUV and vessel hull‑mounted MBES systems.
  • Support integration of bathymetry data into geological and geotechnical ground models.
  • Drive continuous improvement of data quality, processing efficiency, and interpretation methodologies.
Innovation, Technology & Future Capability
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, knowledge sharing, mentorship, and professional integrity across the Data Intelligence function.
  • Lead the evaluation and implementation, in combination with our technology team, of AI/ML assisted data processing workflows for automated bathymetry QC, automated target picking, digitised pipe and flag QC, sound velocity correction, and any further development projects.
  • Drive development of processing and QC solutions using AI assisted analysis, automated data validation, and predictive processing optimisation to improve consistency, efficiency, and turnaround times.
  • Lead and steer the development of high‑quality scientific and technical papers, presentations, and publications, positioning Ocean Infinity as an industry leader through peer‑reviewed journals and world‑leading conferences.
Governance & Quality Assurance
  • Ensure all data processing activities meet contractual, client, regulatory, and quality requirements.
  • Review and provide technical authority for tenders, survey specifications, methodologies, technical reports, and deliverables.
  • Support implementation of best practices, technical standards, and quality frameworks across geophysical operations.
  • Provide oversight of project risk, technical assurance, and operational performance in relation to data acquisition.
Requirements
  • A passion for the subject, technical excellence, and innovation to drive industry‑wide change in data delivery and insight.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in bathymetry data acquisition and processing.
  • Experience across marine, transition zone, seabed, offshore windfarm, pipeline inspection and cable route surveys.
  • Experience with DP‑software including Caris HIPS & SIPS, Qimera, NaviEdit/NaviModel, Janus, POSPac, NavLab and QGIS.
  • Excellent understanding of acquisition technologies, recording systems, and source technologies.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing and mentoring multidisciplinary data processing teams.
  • Strong commercial awareness and client‑facing experience.
  • Experience within the oil and gas and renewables sectors.
  • Programming and high‑performance computing knowledge.
Desirable:
  • Worldwide project and operational experience.
  • A track record of developing and utilising new tools and products for innovative data processing and delivery.
  • A strong knowledge of AI/ML techniques applied to geophysical datasets.
  • Track record of presenting technical papers and speaking at industry conferences.
