Job summary

Royal London is seeking a Technical Lead to join Group Technology and Change. You will own the technical direction of a specialist platform, ensure resilience, and collaborate with stakeholders and third-party vendors to deliver value.

Reporting to the Principal Engineer, you will lead the technical roadmap, guide teams on tools and best practices, and help scale delivery capability across the organisation while aligning with Royal London's values.

Qualifications

• Deep technical knowledge of PHP and Oracle/SQL with PL/SQL or equivalent.
• Experience leading technical or development teams to deliver complex solutions.
• Experience managing third-party suppliers and external partners.
• Ability to influence, communicate clearly and build effective working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical roadmap for a complex platform, ensuring availability, performance, currency and commercial effectiveness.
• Act as the technical authority for your specialist area, guiding the team on tools, methods and best practice to deliver change effectively.
• Plan and oversee technical upgrades and maintenance in partnership with third-party vendors.
• Identify opportunities to leverage new or emerging platform capabilities to add value for the business and customers.
• Build strong, trusted relationships with key stakeholders and internal customers across the organisation.
• Contribute to medium term planning and portfolio shaping activities across Royal London.
• Support the build out of delivery capability through people, process, and tools.

About you

You’llbring strong technical leadership experience and a collaborative mindset, along with:

• Deep technical knowledge ofPHP and/or Oracle/SQL and PL/SQLor equivalent transferable technologies and the confidence to act as a subject matter expert.
• Proven experience leading technical or development teams to deliver complex solutions.
• Experience managing third - party suppliers and external partners
• The ability to influence, communicate clearly and build effective working relationships at all levels.
