Job summary

Google is seeking a Technical Lead to drive the Android Search integration across the OS and launcher surfaces. You will shape technical strategy, drive large-scale systems, and partner with Product, UX, and cross-functional teams to weave Search into the Android experience.

You will lead a team while contributing as an individual contributor, focusing on proactive assistance, AI-enabled workflows, and scalable infrastructure that serves billions of users worldwide.

• 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
• 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
• Experience with modern Android development: Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Material Design.

As a Technical Lead, you will drive the technical strategy to make Google Search an omnipresent, instantly callable, and proactively helpful companion across the Android ecosystem. You will lead the evolution of our OS-level entry points (e.g., the Android Quick Search Box) transitioning them from isolated utilities into a single, cohesive access system.

You will ensure our features feel like flawless, visually rich extensions of the Android launcher itself, rather than a layered third-party app. You will also pioneer proactive assistance, leveraging native surfaces like lockscreen and widgets to anticipate user needs and deliver high-value information before a query is even typed.

Partnering closely with Product, UX, and cross-functional teams, your technical leadership will weave Search directly into the fabric of Android.
