AI Technical Lead (1-Year FTC with aims to move into permanent)

Location: London

Join a world-renowned media organisation as the founding Technical Lead in a newly launched AI innovation lab.

This one-year fellowship has full intentions of transitioning into a permanent hire - while focusing on AI research and growth at first, the aims are for you to grow into a founding Tech Lead and explore the future of AI in journalism (shaping how millions engage with content across formats - text, audio, video and beyond) with leadership capabilities.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead AI research and prototyping efforts in a small, high-impact innovation team
• Investigate frontier AI technologies and apply them to real-world editorial and customer experiences
• Bridge the gap between technical exploration and practical implementation
• Contribute to the long-term AI vision at a globally respected brand
• Work with exciting stakeholders who are global leaders in their fields

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Required

• Experience working directly with cutting-edge generative AI systems - especially around customer experience and big data
• Familiarity with unstructured data in the content space: text, audio, conversation, or video etc.
• Ability to communicate complex AI concepts to non-technical audiences
• Autonomous, creative thinker comfortable in experimental, fast-moving environments

Preferred

• Background in innovation labs, startups, or R&D settings
• Interest/background in journalism, media, or public-facing AI applications
