Technical Lead - Camunda - Java - AWS

Contract Role - Inside IR35

London - Hybrid – 2-3 days on-site

6 Months (options to extend)

Must be SC Cleared or eligible for SC Clearance

We are currently working with a leading, global tech consultancy who are supporting a key digital transformation project within the financial services sector and seeking a Technical Lead with Camunda experience to help architect and guide complex workflow solutions.

This role is ideal for a hands-on senior engineer or tech lead with proven experience designing and implementing workflow-based platforms in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect and deploy custom workflow solutions using Camunda SaaS, including custom PostgreSQL connectors and job workers
• Drive delivery in an open-source culture and contribute to reusable components
• Build performant and scalable services aligned to customer-centric design
• Collaborate across engineering, architecture, and business teams to understand requirements and deliver value
• Lead on best practices in design, testing, and documentation of platform capabilities

Key Skills & Experience:

• Strong background in Java, Spring Boot (Web, Integration, Data), JPA
• Expertise in BPMS platforms – ideally Camunda 8 (or JBPM)
• Experience with microservices, event-driven and process-oriented architecture
• SPA development – ideally ReactJS or similar
• Deep understanding of Agile development practices and DevOps tooling (Git, JIRA, Confluence)
• Familiarity with Domain Driven Design and Enterprise Integration Patterns

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Drools/DMN
• Cloud experience – AWS or Cloud Foundry
• Knowledge of Complex Event Processing (CEP)
• Ability to create reusable components and contribute to architecture design
