Job summary

Understanding Recruitment is partnering with a pioneering GreenTech organisation in London to hire a hands-on Tech Lead / Principal / Staff Engineer. This role combines technical delivery with architectural influence, leading squads and shaping platform decisions.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in Kotlin or Java, with AWS or similar cloud experience, and a track record of mentoring engineers in modern product-driven environments. Hybrid working with up to 3 days from home.

Technical Lead – Tech for Good

Hybrid in London – 3 days per week

We’re working with a pioneering GreenTech organisation on a mission to accelerate the transition to sustainable living by delivering smarter, accessible, and cost-effective green energy solutions for electric vehicle charging.

As part of their next phase of growth, they’re looking for a hands-on Tech Lead / Principal / Staff Engineer to guide engineering squads while still being deeply involved in technical delivery. You’ll play a key part in shaping architecture, mentoring engineers, and driving best practices across the platform.

They’re looking for people with experience in:

• Kotlin (or strong Java engineers willing to transition)
• AWS or other major cloud platforms
• Working in modern, product-driven tech environments
• Leading teams while remaining technically hands-on
