Job summary

Anglian Water is offering a two-year graduate programme based in Peterborough, with occasional travel to our London hub and other sites. The programme develops engineers across design, construction, and environmental projects while providing structured development and professional accreditation support.

You will join a dynamic team, gain exposure to real infrastructure challenges, and build your career through mentored placements across the organisation.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Process engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 2:2 in the stated discipline, and graduated by September 2027 for the 2027 intake.

Responsibilities

  • Support the management of design and engineering activities with strategic suppliers.
  • Define project requirements, scope, assumptions and basis of design.
  • Develop and document technical justifications and evidencing of design decisions.
  • Support survey scope development and implementation.
  • Assist with technical assurance activities.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with programme teams across management, site delivery, stakeholder, legal, planning and consenting functions.

Location: Successful graduate will be based from Peterborough with occasional travel to our London hub (Kings Cross), one of our construction sites or a partner office. Please note your placements may vary across the region and departments so flexibility is essential.

Your programme

Working within the Reservoirs Programme you will gain exposure to a wide range of technical activities supporting the design and engineering of nationally significant infrastructure projects.

You’ll Be Involved In
  • Supporting the management of design and engineering activities with our strategic suppliers
  • Supporting definition of project requirements, scope, assumptions and basis of design
  • Supporting development and agreement of technical justifications and evidencing of project technical decisions
  • Supporting survey scope development and implementation
  • Supporting technical assurance activities
  • Assisting with the preparation of reports and presentations for senior stakeholders
  • Working collaboratively with teams across the programme, including project management, site delivery, stakeholder, legal, planning, consenting teams

Throughout the programme, you'll receive structured development, mentoring, and hands-on experience across a range of technical areas. We're particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate strong technical understanding, problem-solving skills, organisational skills, excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.

You will have achieved, or be working towards, an Engineering degree in any discipline, including Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Process, or a related engineering field.

For this role, you’ll need to have obtained in the last 3 years or be studying towards a minimum 2:2 in the preferred degree disciplines listed and have graduated by September 2027 for the 2027 intake.
