Job summary

SLR is seeking a Technical Director in the mine waste team to manage projects and lead tailings/design efforts across Europe. The role offers opportunities to collaborate with a multinational, multi-disciplinary team and to grow technical capabilities in a dynamic consultancy environment with global reach.

The candidate will lead tailings facility design from concept through detailed design and construction, act as Engineer of Record, and contribute to business development across regions.

Qualifications

• Extensive depth of experience and specialisation in tailings and mine waste, preferably gained in a consulting environment.
• Honours degree qualifications in Civil or Mining Engineering, or an MSc in a related subject.
• Registered Chartered (or equivalent Professional Engineer status), or eligible to register immediately.
• Good working knowledge of mining industry standards such as GISTM, ANCOLD, CDA, etc.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams as lead designer and project manager on tailings and mine waste projects, from concept to detailed design.
• Experience acting as Engineer of Record and Designer of Record.
• Experience in independent auditing and dam safety reviews.
• Good interpersonal, presentation and report writing skills.
• Sound commercial and business development skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage your own projects and support others on mine waste projects.
• Lead design of tailings and waste rock facilities from concept to construction.
• Act as Engineer of Record for tailings facilities.
• Develop new business and grow the team’s capabilities.
• Assist in recruitment and selection of key talent for the team.
• Collaborate with Mine Waste Engineering teams in other regions to deliver projects globally.
• Build relationships with clients and develop new business opportunities.
• Establish a strong professional reputation within an international team.
