Job summary

Ramboll UK is seeking a Technical Director – Critical Systems to lead electrical design across industrial, healthcare, government, marine and infrastructure sectors. You will oversee HV/LV distribution, substation design, protection strategies, and network studies to ensure resilience and decarbonisation.

The role spans concept to commissioning with a focus on high standards and client outcomes. You will guide clients in private HV network connections, DNO interfaces, and compliance with ENA

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering with HV/LV design experience.
• CEng status with IET preferred.
• Experience with private HV networks up to 33 kV, substation design and protection coordination.
• Experience in protection studies, fault analysis, load flow, and arc flash assessments.
• Knowledge of ENA standards and DNO interfaces; G99 compliance.

Responsibilities

• Act as UK electrical SME for Critical Systems projects up to 33 kV.
• Lead concept, feasibility and detailed designs for HV/LV power distribution in mission-critical environments.
• Develop and review equipment specifications and protection philosophies.
• Undertake network modelling and analysis including protection coordination, short-circuit/fault level, load flow, and arc flash assessments.
• Oversee ETAP/Trimble studies and provide technical due diligence and assurance on projects.
• Support energy resilience and decarbonisation planning, integrating renewables and back-up systems.
• Collaborate with Ramboll disciplines to deliver integrated, robust solutions.
