Position: Technical Director
Location: Birmingham - Hybrid
Salary: £90-100,000 + Bonus, Healthcare, Company Car or Allowance + Excellent benefits.
Our client is a leading Designer, Manufacturer, and Installer of Structural Building solutions. They have an exciting opportunity for a qualified chartered structural engineer to lead their Engineering and Design department.
Main Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership, Team Leadership, Stakeholder Management
Key tasks include:
- Technical Leadership
- Provide strategic direction and leadership for the engineering and design function of the business
- Manage relationships with architects, engineers, contractors, and developers from conceptual scheme design to construction on-site
- Oversee the development and maintenance of technical documentation, including product specifications, installation guidelines, and technical manuals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, Compliance, Marketing, and Finance, to ensure technical alignment and support business objectives
- Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and regulatory changes to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
- Ensuring that issues of technical excellence are translated to usable commercial advantage
- Establish effective communication channels to address technical inquiries, customer inquiries and complaints, and regulatory issues in a timely manner.
- Represent the company in industry forums, conferences, and technical committees to enhance the company's reputation and influence technical and compliance standards.
- Skills and Attributes:
- Experienced leader with previous experience working as a chartered structural engineer.
- Be able to demonstrate structural competence in relation to higher-risk buildings ( HRB) and be conversant with regulatory requirements under the Building Safety Act
- Understanding of construction product manufacturing processes, materials, and testing methodologies.
- Professional and organised, with a desire to bring about improvement
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Takes ownership of tasks and topics proactively and motivates the team to perform to tight deadlines.
- Qualifications:
- Chartered Structural Engineer
- Ideally, Membership of IStuctE
- 5 years+ experience working on mid-rise, multi-occupancy structures; Residential Structures, Student Accommodation, Care Homes, and Hotels
- Full working knowledge of Tekla
- Experience in core materials: steel, concrete masonry, and timber
