Job summary

Frontline Security Solutions, part of Api Group, is seeking a Technical Design Engineer to review tender documentation and proposals for compliance, and to support sales with technical system designs.

The role combines home working, client visits and office work in Chalfont St Peter and is a 12-month fixed-term contract with potential to become permanent. Salary up to £45,000 with a broad benefits package and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in electronic security systems industry would be preferred.
  • Strong practical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively within a team.
  • Full UK Driving Licence (or working towards obtaining one).
  • Ability to work at customer sites and travel as required.
  • Willingness to undertake training and professional development.
  • Experience using CAD software Microsoft Office package

Responsibilities

  • Provide clear & detailed updates and progress reports for tender technical reviews, design projects and pre-qualification questionnaires.
  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders across the business at all levels on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Design Packs: produce complete system designs including layout drawings, panel/rack elevations, door elevations, single-line schematics, specifications, device schedules, document schedules, RAMS, programme of works and procurement schedules.
  • Liaise with project managers, sales and estimators to ensure design meets client requirements.
  • Produce client-required design packs in collaboration with sales and estimating teams.
  • Attend sites to survey as required.
  • Manage the design change process.
  • Develop and standardise company design and preconstruction documentation; support installation quality guides and playbooks; stay aware of industry regulations and standards.

Job description

We are seeking a Technical Design Engineer to join our growing team here at Frontline Security Solutions. The primary purpose for this position is to technically review tender documentation and proposals to ensure compliance to the relevant requirements specified. You will also support the sales & estimating teams as a technical resource assisting where required on system designs and to produce the pre-construction design packs as part of the sales to project handover process. The role is a hybrid based model, combining home working, client visits and working from our office in Chalfont St Peter. This role is on a initial fixed term contract for 12 months, with the potential to become permanent.

What You’ll be Doing as a Technical Design Engineer
  • General Provide clear & detailed updates and progress reports for tender technical reviews, design projects and pre-qualification questionnaires.
  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders across the business at all levels on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Design Packs Manage the production, and produce complete system designs for live and upcoming projects, including but not limited to:
    • Layout drawings
    • Panel/rack elevations
    • Door elevations
    • Single line schematics
    • Specifications
    • Device schedules
    • Document schedules
    • Technical submittals
    • Risk & method statements (RAMS)
    • Programme of works
    • Procurement schedule
    • Design Coordination
  • Liaise with the project managers, sales and estimators to ensure the design meets the client’s design requirements
  • Work with sales and estimating teams to produce client required design packs
  • Attend sites to survey as required
  • Carry out design services as required by customers and agreed with sales
  • Manage the design change process
  • Standards & Continuous Improvement
    • Develop and standardize company design and preconstruction documentation
    • Support the development of, and set out company installation quality guides and playbooks
    • Maintain awareness of latest industry regulations and standards ensuring the business remains compliant where required.
    • Identify opportunities to improve design quality, consistency and efficiency.
What We Would Like You To Bring

  • Basic understanding of electrical or electronic principles.
  • Security screening clearance or willingness to undergo screening.
