Job description

Technical Data Administrator

Location: Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire

Salary: c. £26,000

Hours: Full time (37 hours per week)

Contract: Permanent

About the Role

We’re looking for a methodical, numerically confident individual to join our team as a Technical Data Administrator at NFU Energy. This is a technical, data-focused role supporting the delivery of energy management services to our customers. You’ll be responsible for processing and checking energy data, preparing reports and submissions, and ensuring that important technical processes are completed accurately and on time. Much of the work follows established procedures and recurring reporting cycles, so attention to detail, consistency and reliability are essential. You’ll need to be comfortable working with spreadsheets, handling detailed information and identifying where something doesn’t look right. You’ll be joining a team with specialist knowledge of the energy sector, with opportunities to build your own understanding of energy data, regulatory reporting and renewable energy incentive schemes.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Processing, reviewing and validating energy consumption and meter data.
  • Preparing reports and submitting information to organisations such as Ofgem, HMRC and energy suppliers.
  • Supporting the administration and reporting requirements of renewable energy incentive schemes.
  • Checking data for accuracy, completeness and consistency, investigating discrepancies and escalating issues where necessary.
  • Maintaining accurate records, spreadsheets and internal databases.
  • Monitoring recurring tasks and reporting deadlines to ensure work is completed on time.
  • Supporting technical colleagues with data analysis, reporting and project-related activities.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve the accuracy and efficiency of existing processes.
What We’re Looking For

We’re particularly interested in your approach to working with data and detailed processes, rather than previous experience in the energy industry. You’ll need to have:

  • Strong numerical skills and confidence working with figures and spreadsheets.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical, organised approach.
  • The ability to follow technical procedures accurately and consistently.
  • An analytical mindset, with the ability to spot errors, inconsistencies and unusual results.
  • The ability to manage recurring tasks and deadlines, working independently and as part of a team.
  • Clear communication skills and a willingness to learn.
It would be beneficial if you also have
  • Experience working with technical, financial, operational or regulatory data.
  • Experience of data validation, reporting or compliance processes.
  • Knowledge of the energy industry or renewable energy schemes.
  • More advanced Excel skills, including formulas, lookups and data manipulation.
Is This Role Right for You?

This position will suit someone who enjoys working with data, solving small problems and getting the details right. It’s important to recognise that much of the work is structured and repetitive, with regular reporting requirements and established procedures to follow. We’re looking for someone who takes satisfaction in completing these activities accurately and reliably, while remaining alert to exceptions and opportunities for improvement. You don’t need to be an energy expert when you join us. What matters most is that you’re curious, conscientious, comfortable with numbers and willing to develop your technical knowledge.
