As a Technical Co-ordinator, you will be responsible and accountable for the management of daily site activities on our Water Supply Works at Hardham and within the West Sussex area. You will be proactive in ensuring compliance standards are always adhered to. Some of which includes BSI 9001 & 14001 and water quality standards and regulations. Management of proactive site maintenance will be an essential part of the role, to help mitigate risks whilst enhancing resilience and customer security of supply.
The role will also involve undertaking site safety assessments as well as fire risk assessments. You will work collaboratively with other functions and stakeholders for early identification and quick resolutions of issues likely to result in operational failures.
In managing the overall compliance standards on Water Supply sites, you will be responsible for providing an overview of all planned & reactive works within the West Sussex Water Supply area, working closely with contractors and internal Asset Maintenance. You will be supporting the Field Performance Manager to monitor H&S site equipment standards ensuring that all necessary assets are identified and certified as safe and compliant.
You will be responsible for the effective running of the team in the absence of the Field performance manager as they will deputise for leave and delegated requirements, meeting performance continuity for an operational area and role succession. Indeed, this role can be as a fantastic platform for skilled and talented individuals to progress into management and leadership roles in the future. As such you will demonstrate a strong technical and operational background, with clear drive for continuous improvement.
You will use your strong communication skills to engage with contractors, ensuring that quality work is delivered safely on time and within budget. An important element of your role will be managing spot and planned audits by our regulators and liaise effectively with them and associated governing bodies. Thus travel between various sites is essential, hence, it is essential for you to hold a full driving licence!
This role is varied with an opportunity to work in a wide range of diverse activities across a number of water sites in Sussex with a wide range of contractors and Southern Water staff. You will be an IT literate with a good level of experience in Water Supply, health & safety regulations, environmental policies, risk assessments & method statements.
To be considered for this role you will have knowledge and experience in the utilities section, ideally water.
