Job summary

BayWa r.e. Operation Services Limited is seeking a Technical Control Room Operator to join our Renewables Control Centre in the UK.

You’ll oversee real-time performance, access control, and remote monitoring across BESS, wind, and solar assets, ensuring safe, compliant operation. You’ll work with SCADA and operation management software, monitor alarms, coordinate with O&M contractors and partners, and contribute to continuous improvement of Control Centre processes in a dynamic energy

Qualifications

• Experience of working in a Control Centre environment or with SCADA systems in power generation.
• Knowledge of Wind Turbine safety rules and safe systems of work.
• Fully IT literate and able to work with multiple systems and processes.
• The ability to remain calm and apply structured thinking in high pressure situations.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate controlled visitor access to sites with clear communication.
• Monitor renewable assets through SCADA and operation management software; address alarms and faults.
• Maintain up-to-date work control records and plant history records.
• Release plants under safe systems and fulfil Wind Turbine Safety Rules.
• Coordinate with O&M Contractors, customers and external partners.
• Escalate health and safety incidents as required.
• Monitor weather forecasts and issue timely safety alerts.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of Control Centre services and processes.

About the role

We’re offering an exciting opportunity for a Technical Control Room Operator to join and help lead our Renewables Control Centre. In this pivotal role, you’ll ensure the safe and efficient operation of renewable assets on a global scale. Your responsibilities will include overseeing site access control, monitored handovers of plants, real-time performance tracking, safety compliance, and remote monitoring using operation management software for BESS, Wind and Solar PV technology. If you’re detail-oriented, have strong analytical and communication skills, and thrive in a dynamic work environment, we encourage you to be a vital part of our team.

What you will do

• You will be responsible for facilitating controlled visitor access to sites, ensuring effective and transparent communication.

• You will be responsible for monitoring renewable assets through cutting-edge SCADA systems and our operational management software, promptly addressing alarms and faults.

• You will be responsible for maintaining up-to-date work control records and comprehensive plant life history records.

• You will play a crucial role in day-to-day work, ensuring the safe release of plants under the appropriate safe system of work, performing the role of Technical Control Room Operator under the relevant Wind Turbine Safety Rules.

• You will be responsible for fostering clear and efficient communication with O&M Contractors, customers, and external partners.

• You will act as a central point of contact for health and safety-related incidents, swiftly escalating and reporting when necessary.

• You will be responsible for keeping a vigilant eye on weather forecasts, issuing timely alerts when needed to ensure safety.

• You will be a driving force in continuous improvement, contributing to the evolution and enhancement of our Control Centre services and processes to shape the future of renewable energy.

What you’ll need to succeed

• Experience of working in a Control Centre environment or working with SCADA systems within power generation.

• Knowledge of Wind Turbine safety rules and safe systems of work.

• Fully IT literate.

• The ability to work with multiple systems and processes.

• The ability to remain calm and apply logical and structured thinking and actions in high pressure situations.

• A strong team player with excellent collaboration skills, who can effectively work with colleagues to achieve common goals and promote a positive work environment.

• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.

Working Hours:

Full-time position with a rotating shift pattern.

Covering core hours between 06:00 – 20:00 on weekdays and 08:30 – 16:30 on weekends.
